Child Snoring Problems
Child Snoring Problems
Snoring is caused by the vibration of the respiratory structures (due to the vibrations of the loose nasal issues) and produces the consequential sound. This is due to obstruction of the air movement during breathing while sleeping. The sound made is usually very unpleasant, the sound may be loud or soft. Uvula and soft palate are usually the structures involved in the snoring process. Causes of snoring in children Snoring is caused due to the quivering of the loose nasal tissues in the back of the throat, which results in an objectionable noise which may be loud or soft. The snorers habitually have overmuch nasal tissue and throat tissue or they may even have some floppy tissue which is more prone to producing vibrations.
There can also be an impediment while breathing due to the position of the tongue. This impediment mostly arises if the person is over weight and has extra fat tissue present in their throat and the neck. Some people find it cute when the child snores during sleeping. While some of them do not. Snoring of a child is not a good sign and can be a matter of concern to hidden health problems. Snoring itself is a health issue and should be taken seriously. One of the major problems is that with children snoring often leads to Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Sleep Apnea is caused by an obstruction in the air the child breaths. The child feels uncomfortable and irritable because of their interrupted sleep. Child snoring has been associated with other problems in behavior. Those children suffering form apnea are known to have a considerably shorter attention span as compared to the average child. Most of the children who suffer from snoring have faced the problem involving lack of attention in school. Some of the other more serious symptoms of child snoring include enlargement of the tonsils, nasal speech, the body becoming overweight and the consequent rise in blood pressure. There are many known reasons for child snoring. One of the most common reasons is that of the allergies which occur due to the shift in the seasons. The parents must ensure that the allergies of their children are treated at the appropriate time. Child snoring is also commonly caused by an enlargement of tonsils and also the enlargement of the adenoids. The adenoid gland lies in the nasal passage. They easily trap various bacteria causing swelling and the snoring occurs if the swelling is not looked after and treated in time. The other common reason for the child snoring is excess weight i.e. Obesity which also results in the narrowing of the passageways. Snoring in children is of a major concern as it may result in hyperactivity. With snoring in children this can also lead to attention deficit issues and the other problems which coexist with snoring.
So even if the child snoring occasionally looks cute to see and hear, it does not mean that the child is sleeping well. Those types of sounds won't be so cute as the child grows and problems appear.
